Design the motor for your application
You can use these pre-set formulas to quickly and accurately determine if your motor requirements match well with MET’s DC Motors.
These are some of the standard voltage ratings for motors that we manufacture. Please select the voltage closest to that which you have available in your application:
12 Volts 24 Volts 36 Volts 48 Volts 90 Volts
DC Motors
DC Motors are our one and only specialty. We can provide you with technical information on a DC Motor for your application, and we can work with your engineers in the development of your product. We can provide you with prototype motors designed specifically for your equipment. Our DC Electric Motors range from fractional horsepower up to 2 HP. They are from 3.3” up to 6.0” in diameter, and are capable of speeds up to 5,000 RPM as needed.
If you already have a product developed, we can help you solve any problems that you may be having with your present DC Motor supplier. Are you having any concerns about the motor performance in your product? Do you need more dependable delivery, better product quality, improved quantity pricing? Let us help you with a non-committal quote. We can take your present DC Motor and perform tests to develop its specifications to ensure that you know exactly what you are getting.
A MET DC Motor is usually low-voltage and is prepared custom to your company’s specific needs. We manufacture our DC Motors with speed control compatibility, which allows you to vary the speeds as needed. All of our DC Electric Motors have bi-directional and reversible capabilities. They are all of ball bearing construction and have heavy duty finishes. Special couplings and mountings are easy for us to provide. We have designed a special Direct Current Motor for many Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) for use in a wide variety of products.
Since 1969, Minnesota Electric Technology has been a leading manufacturer of American made, custom designed, reliable DC Electric Motors for Original Equipment Manufacturers throughout the world. These can be manufactured with NEMA, IEC, or custom mounting arrangements based on your company’s given needs. Please contact us to see how we can help you design for your application.
Our corporate headquarters is located in Mankato, Minnesota, and all of our equipment is built at our manufacturing facility in Winnebago, MN. We pride ourselves on our fast delivery and high quality of our DC Motor.
In order to ensure that the various components are produced appropriately for the needed capabilities of the application, our engineers are willing to work with you to draw-up your DC Electric Motor. To better understand our Direct Current Motor and what to expect when purchasing, you can read our blog.
We specialize in the production of custom designed motors based on your requirements. There are no extra charges for the custom designing work. Send us your application specifications and we will be glad to send you a no obligation quote. Our DC Motor has many different applications, some of which are listed here.
A MET end user recently commented on our product quality. He said “I have had this motor for over a decade. Do you know that I have gone through 4 cars during the life of this motor and, as a matter of fact, it is actually running smoother today than the first day I bought it!”
There are four major classes of DC motors:
Advantages of Permanent Magnet DC Motor:
- It is easy to control the speed.
- The speed-torque characteristics are easier to match to the load, since they are basically a straight line.
- The use of magnets instead of field windings allows for smaller and lighter contrustion, which gives subsequent / end-use manufacturers more design flexibility.
- The use of magnets instead of field windings means that there are fewer coils that could potentially short out or cause disruptions in the field, saving on maintenance and down-time.
- The use of magnets instead of field windings means that there is no need for a field excitation power source.
- Efficiency is higher because there is only one winding.
- Permanent magnet DC motors are less expensive to manufacture and more economical for lower horsepower ratings.
Regardless of what MET DC Electric Motor you need, we will make sure that it is assembled guaranteed to your company’s specific needs.
